What are the top features of this baby monitor?

The Levana BABYVIEW20 has a few different features that make it stand out from many of the inferior baby monitors on the market.  First of all, it offers video as well as audio, so you can see your baby as well as hear any noise.  The camera even has night vision, so you can see day or night.

Another great feature of the Levana BABYVIEW20 monitor is that it has 32 different channels.  It also auto changes the channel if there is ever any interference.  This means that your connection will be secure and interference free from most electronic devices in and around your home. 

Finally, besides video and audio, the Levana BABYVIEW20 also has a nightlight built into the camera for you baby, as well as the ability to play lullabies.  You can even turn on the music in your baby’s room from your handset. 

Are there any problems or concerns with using this baby monitor?

With the Levana BABYVIEW20 baby monitor, there are a few concerns.  Some may keep you from purchasing this monitor, while others are just mild annoyances that you should be aware of.  First, let’s look at the issues with the camera, which may or may not be a problem for you. 

The camera is not actually mounted to the base but held on by a magnet.  The magnet can lose its power after a while, causing the camera to fall off the base.  Another problem with the base is that it’s bulky and can prevent the camera from being turned down enough to get a good viewing angle.  Finally, there are LED lights on the camera for the power and night vision that may be distracting for your baby.

Next, we’ll look at the handheld monitor.  One problem is that when the monitor is not on standby, you will hear a constant humming or buzzing sound that can be annoying.  Also, the monitor flashes every few seconds, which can be a problem at night in a dark room while you are sleeping.  A very minor problem is that the button to turn on the music in your baby’s room is located on the monitor and can be pushed accidentally very easily, possibly waking your baby.  

All of these are pretty minor, but there is a serious problem with the audio for the Levana BABYVIEW20 baby monitor.  While the video works well, the audio is not very sensitive and may not pick up every noise.  Also, there is a standby feature (VOX) that cuts off the monitor after a period of time and will only come back on when it picks up noises beyond a certain level.  Unfortunately, this feature doesn’t always work properly, so it may not kick back on when your baby wakes up.
